The Republic of Georgia
Overview:
As a student of Vermont State University I am given the unique opportunity to register for the Global Studies Fieldwork course, a course that consists of an average of 10 days visiting another country to learn about their unique culture and history. This course took place in late June 2024.
Locations
Throughout the trip we stayed in three locations and made brief trips to the following locations in this order:
- The Capital, Tbilisi
- Ancient Capital, Mtskheta
- Kakheti Region
- Uplistsikhe
- Gori
- Kutaisi
- Batumi
- Machakhela
What to expect:
I plan on highlighting the various locations we went on these trips and categorize them under various categories where I will go in depth explaining each location as well as my thoughts on them and what I learned there.
My Thoughts on the Trip
I found this trip to be very enjoyable. While most prior trips were mostly centered around being in cities, this trip to Georgia took students not only into the cities for the culture, but into small towns and into the mountains, as well as a boat tour on the Black Sea. While locations may have been far more spaced out than prior trips, the drives between locations stayed informative while also giving students time to take a break during the active schedule.
