Religious Locations and Notes of the Trip:

Chronicles of Georgia

The Chronicles of Georgia was one of the first places I saw on the trip given I spent the first day sick in the hotel getting rest. It was on the outskirts of Tbilisi and the structure left a large impression. The structure consisted of sixteen pillars, each having a large depiction on each side showing an important moment of Christianity. It very quickly answered my question of what religion is most prominent in the country. As a christian myself it was very interesting to see. In front of the whole monument was also a large metal scroll on the ground with Georgian writings on it. Off to the side of the monument was a cross that stood out due to the beam moving across being curved down.

Church of Ananuri Fortress

Ananuri Fortress was a fortress on the side of the Zhinvali Reservoir. While it was a fortress used for the military it showed just how much religion means to Georgians because of its church in the center of the fortress. I believe this implies that the military believed as long as they kept god near them they would be safe.

Bobde Monastery

The Bobde Monastery was located on a cliffside in a park filled with nature. There were many good places to look out upon the Alazani Valley where you could see for many miles. The monastery was the location where Saint Nino was buried. There was a church and a monastery in that park, the monastery was much older and was the location of where Saint Nino rested, while there was a much newer church that was closer to the cliffside overlooking the valley.
